Emerson Adds New Greenlee® Circuit Seeker™ and Ground Resistance Tester to its Test and Measurement Tools

New CMGRT-100A and CS-5000 test tools are ergonomically designed and include industry-leading safety features

ROCKFORD, Ill. (July 23, 2018) – Emerson (NYSE: EMR) today announced the expansion of Greenlee’s test and measurement offering to include an ergonomically designed, high-quality Circuit Seeker and Ground Resistance Tester.

The new Greenlee CS-5000 Circuit Seeker can identify, trace and find faults in electrical circuits. It can operate on live circuits without disrupting service or can operate effectively on de-energized circuits. Additionally, the Greenlee CMGRT-100A Ground Resistance Tester is rated CAT IV,600V and includes an industry-leading safety feature which warns if dangerous voltage is detected. The tester also features a large, bright display that is easy to read.

“We engineered these instruments to be highly versatile and rugged, based on customer feedback,” said Keith Moffatt, product manager for Greenlee, Test and Measurement, Emerson Commercial & Residential Solutions. “Safety, productivity and ergonomics are always foremost in our minds, and in the minds of our customers as well.”

    Greenlee CS-5000 Circuit Seeker

The Greenlee CS-5000 has several unique features that support productivity and improve safety. The front-facing LED display promotes an ergonomic working posture, while the overmolded grip design reduces hand fatigue. The “Auto-Gain” technology automatically adjusts the seeker’s sensitivity and increases both accuracy and speed when locating breakers. The receiver and the transmitter have LED indicators to warn if there is live voltage on the circuit being tested. The CS-5000 supports transmitter-to-receiver distances up to four miles for closed circuit tracing.

“The CS-5000 Circuit Seeker, with its proven easy-to-use technology, delivers outstanding value to the user,” Moffatt said.

    CMGRT-100A Ground Resistance Tester

The new Greenlee Ground Resistance Tester CMGRT-100A provides an efficient and safer alternative for ground testing than the traditional Fall-of-Potential (FOP) method.

The CMGRT-100A eliminates the need for the ground to be disconnected during testing. This ensures the grounding protection is not compromised during testing that would occur with the FOP test method. The voltage detection feature alerts the operator if voltage is present on the ground by emitting a discernable tone and displaying a large “V” on the screen. The tester has a Cat IV / 600-Volt safety rating –the highest in the industry for a 600-volt device of this type.

The CMGRT-100A eliminates the need to drive multiple stakes into the ground as required by the FOP method, which provides significant time savings. It has an exceptional operating temperature range from -4 to 131 degrees Fahrenheit, allowing operators to use it in a variety of environments. The tester has a high-capacity memory which can hold up to 300 measurements. Furthermore, the automatic time and date stamp function facilitate accurate and timely recordkeeping. The bright–yellow, large display is easy to read in the widest range of lighting conditions, reducing eye strain. In addition, the Greenlee Ground Resistance Tester can test impedance on four different frequencies (50Hz, 60Hz, 128Hz and 2083Hz).

Greenleeâ Releases the New Shear 30T Advancing the Strut and Threaded Rod Cutting Process

The 30-ton cutting workstation produces precise, burr-free cuts.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (May 7, 2018) – Greenlee Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, introduces the Shear 30T, a safe and efficient solution to cutting strut and threaded rod. Currently, industry professionals cut strut with a saw blade, with either a band saw or chop saw. These labor-intensive methods are time consuming and result in uneven cut lengths and often need additional work to file sharp edges. Watch the innovative Shear 30T in action at Greenlee.com/Shear30T.

“We listened to contractors’ demands for a new method to increase productivity, improve precision and eliminate the need for rework while cutting strut,” said Dale Speggen, Greenlee Product Manager. “The Shear 30T harnesses 30 tons of power to consistently produce clean, straight cuts. The effortless, smooth cuts reduce the risk of injury from burs, metal chips or sharp edges and exposed blades.”

Mounted on a mobile work station, the transportable Shear 30T is designed for efficient work flow on any jobsite or in fabrication shops. The Shear 30T is hydraulically powered and features an easy measuring station for accurate, repeatable cuts. The hydraulic pump is safely stored on the bottom of the cart and the hose is securely attached to the cutting unit through a grommet hole on the cart’s table top, preventing clutter and reducing the risk of injury.

“Repeatability is a big factor for the Shear 30T,” said Speggen. “In most cases, contractors are buying strut in 10-foot lengths. When using the old methods of cutting and filing, on average, a contractor will lose about 1/16-inch of strut per cut; this results in the last cut being short and more scrap.”

The Shear 30T has interchangeable dies that are made from durable, long-lasting material and can be rotated to extend die life. The unique die profile design offers compatibility with multiple brands of strut, providing versatility for the operator. A quick die change system requires no tools or loose parts. For increased efficiency, the dies automatically retract after a cut so that they are in position for repeated use. In addition, the use of dies improves safety by eliminating the use of a blade to cut strut. The Shear 30T dies effortlessly cut:

    • 7/8-inch and 1 5/8-inch single strut
    • 1 5/8-inch back-to-back strut
    • 1/4-inch, 3/8-inch, 1/2-inch and 5/8-inch threaded rod
    • Cooper B-Line® 4D21 and 4D22 strut

The Shear 30T is now available for purchase. To schedule a demonstration or purchase the new Greenlee Shear 30T, contractors can locate their nearest dealer by visiting Greenlee.com/where-to-buy.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (May 29, 2018) -- Greenlee Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, is expanding its line of Gator tools to include a new ratcheting cable cutter. The new Gator tool has hardened blades to produce clean uniform cuts and features an ergonomic design to reduce potential worksite injuries.

“The new ESR1000LX ratchet cutter is designed for one-handed operation to help professionals cut cable quickly and easily,” said Ryan Berg, Termination Product Manager. “The tool delivers a large cutting capacity, allowing operators to cut up to a 1000 kcmil in copper and 1250 kcmil in aluminum.”

HD Electric Company® Introduces All New V-Watch® Personal Voltage Detector

Waukegan, IL., HD Electric Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, the leading provider of products serving the needs of the electrical power industry, is proud to announce the launch of the all new, redesigned V-Watch® Personal Voltage Detector.  The V-Watch Detector is worn on the body to detect unknown sources of voltage, and the new design makes for a user-friendly, lightweight and durable tool.

“We developed the new V-Watch Personal Voltage Detector as a sleeker and more robust alternative to our current model,” said Ryan Berg, Director of Product Development. “By making some basic mechanical, electrical and aesthetic changes, we’ve created a durable tool that saves lives and is easy to operate.”

The V-Watch Personal Voltage Detector features multi-colored flashing lights and a loud audible alarm that face upwards towards the user, and alerts when at least 2.4kV of voltage is detected. Audible and visual alarms increase in frequency the closer the user gets to energized equipment.   The compact design allows for free movement, while the water-resistant nature makes for a reliable detector in any condition.

“We wanted to create a tool that was both durable and easy to use,” said Michael Standiford, Electrical Engineer. “The tool turns on by simply pulling up on the top, as opposed to having the user unzip a hard shell shielded case, as they do with the current V-Watch Personal Voltage Detector. Every time the detector is turned on it performs a self-test to ensure it is working properly.”

Full details on the V-Watch Personal Voltage Detector can be found at www.HDElectricCompany.com.

Greenleeâ Improves Crimping Accuracy with the New K09-SYNCRO™ Crimper

The dial of SYNCRO series crimpers eliminates rework due to die misalignment

ROCKFORD, Ill. (April 3, 2018) – Greenlee Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, introduces the K09-SYNCRO crimping tool. The new K09-SYNCRO features a patented design that enables a single, color-coded dial to rotate both dies simultaneously, preventing die misalignment and reducing rework.

“The K09-SYNCRO crimper’s patented die design includes a color-coded dial selection wheel which corresponds to the color on the lug that is being crimped,” said Ryan Berg, Director of Product Management. “The current process of aligning hard-to-read dials can result in misalignment and inaccurate crimps which ultimately lead to quality concerns and required rework.”

The laser-cut dies are marked with AWG die sizes and the die selection wheel is color-coded for easy identification. The rotating dies are built into the tool to eliminate loose pieces. Dies are phosphated, polished and tempered for increased durability and corrosion resistance and continues to accurately perform after 10,000 crimp cycles. The K09-SYNCRO is engineered with an engraved crimp groove; the die index number is inscribed on the crimped lug in order to easily verify the proper connection

Ergonomically designed handles decrease grip fatigue and increase user comfort. The telescoping handles are adjustable to four length positions for improved leverage and maneuverability in confined spaces. In addition, the adjustable handles allow for convenient storage.

The K09-SYNCRO is part of Greenlee’s SYNCRO series crimpers and has a crimping capacity of 1AWG – 250 kcmil. Both the K09-SYNCRO and K05-SYNCRO are the only crimpers in their class to be UL classified with seven major lug and splice manufacturers, including Anderson®, Blackburn®, Burndy®, ILSCO®, Panduit®, Thomas & Betts®, and Penn-Union® copper connectors[1].
