• New HPS Centurion D1 dV/dT Filter (Sep 14, 2022)

  GUELPH, ON (April 25, 2022) – Hammond Power Solutions (HPS) has a new addition to their line of power quality products – HPS Centurion D1 dV/dT Filter.

  HPS Centurion D1 is designed for use between variable frequency drives (VFD’s) and motors when long lead lengths are used.  It combines an inductor and parallel resistor network to mitigate both high frequency components and voltage spikes between the VFD and motor.

  These filters provide protection for both the motor and cables that power it, and are typically used when the cable length exceeds a value that can lead to high voltage levels caused by reflected wave phenomena. dV/dT filters provide protection to the motor by slowing down the rate of voltage increase and minimizes the damaging peak voltages that occur within the motor’s windings and terminals.

  Typical examples of HPS Centurion D1 dV/dT filter applications include oil and gas pumps, wastewater treatment plants, HVAC systems, pulp and paper, and irrigation fields. 

• NEW THREE PHASE ENCAPSULATED TRANSFORMER IECEX, ATEX, & UKEX CERTIFIED (Sep 14, 2022)

  GUELPH, ON (December 8, 2021) – Hammond Power Solutions Inc. (HPS), North America's leading manufacturer of dry-type transformers and magnetics has announced the availability of HPS Titan X encapsulated transformers.

  HPS Titan X is designed for industrial and hazardous applications that require conformity to IECEx, ATEX and UKEx, making it fully certified for use in most of the World’s hazardous locations.

  “There is an increasing need for installation efficiency and safety in industrial automation and hazardous locations”, stated Sanela Ligata, Product Manager.  “Electrical equipment in hazardous locations is often covered by a wide range of IEC standards and is highly regulated.  Industry and Governments find it advantageous to use the IECEx Conformity Assessment System for a variety of reasons such as improved safety, ability to verify IECEx certificates online, reduces the need for additional testing, and the United Nations has endorsed it as the internationally-recognized certification system”.

  HPS Titan X is a complimentary product to the existing HPS Titan N product which is approved for applications requiring UL and/or CSA certifications.

  Both products are completely encapsulated in epoxy and silica, providing excellent protection from airborne contaminants and prevents the ingress of moisture.  The removable hinged door and factory installed grounding lugs, reduce installation time and money.  Although not mandated by DOE 2016 or NRCan 2019, HPS Titan X and N meet or exceed the current minimum efficiency levels for ventilated transformers in North America.  They are also seismically qualified and OSHPD certified.
