RVE, Transforming the EV Home Charging Industry
RVE - Get Buildings EV Ready With Us

 Press Releases

  • (Aug 02, 2023)

    RVE would like to say hello!

     And talk about some things that are important to us:

    • Nearly all plug-in vehicle charging takes place at home.
    • 48 million Americans in single-family homes will likely need an electric panel or service upgrade if they drive daily.
    • An electric panel upgrade can mean a long wait-time and thousands of extra dollars to a charging station installation.
    • The 30% of Americans living in multi-unit dwellings will have this same problem, but in a setting that poses its own set of challenges.

    Homeowners and drivers want to make the switch to electric and we provide a charging solution to make that possible.

    The DCC by RVE is the only safe, reliable, and future-proof alternative to a panel upgrade made specifically for electric vehicles. Find out more at https://rve-usa.com/products/

  • RVE's founder, David Corbeil, first worked on our flagship product: the DCC, as a project with his father, an electrician and owner of their family electrical business.

    It was out of the innovative work they poured into electric vehicle energy management systems that RVE came to be 8 years ago, co-founded with David's sister, Marie-Pier.

    Today, RVE has grown to 30 employees, many of whom have a history in the electrical industry too. Our expertise comes from having worked in the field, closely with electricians, and many of the other stakeholders in a typical EVSE installation project.

    And come meet some of us at NECA 2023, where we will be happy to share our experiences with the EV world, as well as our goals for changing the way that EV charging is tackled.

  • (Aug 21, 2023)

    Strong ties to the electrical world have always been important to RVE, what with RVE's flagship product, the DCC, being engineered and informed by the hands of electricians, and in close collaboration with several industry experts.

    Electrical expertise in our US division is no exception -

    Breda Potter is the director of US sales and joined RVE with over 25 years of experience working with distributors in the construction and home hardware industry, and 14 years of experience in property management in both Canadian and US markets.

    Christian Tarragon is RVE's longest serving sales representative, previously working for Tesla, and having now made sales and contacts in over 30 States for RVE.

    Jodine Baluk is RVE's West Coast expert, bringing more than 10 years of B2B and municipal sales experience to the team with learned expertise in a range of domains: from LED lighting sales, to commercial design, to photographic technical services.

    Not to be forgotten are RVE’s in-house electricians and technical support team:

    Simon Rivard is a technical advisor for RVE, but is also a trained and licensed electrician who has worked on both residential and commercial projects for more than a decade.

    Jerome Parent, our second technical advisor, is also a licensed electrician with a special expertise in electric vehicle charging systems.

    The team help direct and advise distributors, clients, and stakeholders.

  • Now that you know RVE a bit better, it's time to get to know what we offer!

    RVE is the North American authority on electric vehicle energy management systems, shortened to EVEMS. An EVEMS will manage the electrical load that an electric vehicle (EV) requires, making sure that an EV will not risk overloading an electric panel and that energy can be safely consumed at times of best rates. It can be offered as both software and hardware, with our flagship product, the DCC, being a hardwired EVEMS made specifically for electric vehicles and the only patent of its kind that is CSA certified and UL Listed.

    There are several advantages to a hardware-based EVEMS, such as:

    - Load management uses real data, in-real time, according to a household's energy availability.

    - No risk of losing signal to a charging device or internet connection.

    - Hardwired EVEMS can be used without third-party services or applications for management.

    - Eliminates the possibility of tampering with the load management component of a charging system.

  • DCC models DCC-12 and DCC-10 are perfect for the single-family home.

    Constructed to offload the energy of an electric vehicle charger from a panel with a capacity of 60 to 200 amps, both models will protect your home's infrastructure, while giving you ample charging time every night.

    The DCC-12 is the preferred model for homeowners that have an electrical panel that is near or at capacity and who do not require the addition of an internal breaker. It is RVE's most economical option - considering the potential savings in using a DCC over a home panel upgrade. And how little additional space it requires - its compact 11x8 inch frame can be installed right next to the electrical panel.

    The DCC-10 has all the same features as other DCC models but includes an internal breaker for situations where an additional breaker is needed for the full protection of an electrical panel unit.

  • Following a very successful installation, an advocate for the DCC from San Jose, California gave RVE a detailed account of his experience that we summarized in a case study here: https://rve-usa.com/case-studies/single-family-home-san-jose/

    After being quoted more than $11,000 for the upgrade of a main breaker, the running of conduit to the main service, trenching, and labor, the Californian client went back to trickle-charging using an outlet and a Level 1 charger, but found that it took more than a day to bring the battery up to a full charge.

    He explored the option of a feeder switch between his oven and the electric vehicle, but this too seemed potentially inconvenient.

    It was finally the DCC-12 that satisfied all of his needs without having to sacrifice charging speed or use of his appliances. And at a fraction of the original estimated cost as using the DCC-12 for energy management will almost always avoid panel upgrades, main service work, and trenching.

    The DCC-12 has benefited many single-family homeowners who face the same barriers. If you are working on a project and would like more information about the DCC-12, or if you have a DCC-12 success story, RVE can be contacted at: https://rve-usa.com/contact/

  • DCC-9-BOX6 is an industrial load controller for EV energy management in a space-saving 6 splitter box format. It is designed to make a building’s electrical infrastructure fully EV-ready at the lowest possible price.

    • Simplifies large-scale installations;
    • Prepares a site for as few or as many charging stations as needed;
    • Saves space and streamlines cable installation;
    • Allows for a more ergonomic installation for the installer and minimizes the footprint.

    Connects the main power supply to the infrastructure intended to power EV charging stations while reducing the initial cost of installation by minimizing the impact of upgrades needed for additional energy capacity.
    Each DCC-BOX model uses the DCC-9-PCB-XXA electronic component to energize a charging station at the time of installation.
